AED donated to the Calolziocorte town

On May 30, 2023, the official inauguration of the new (semi)-automatic external defibrillator (AED) took place. The AED is equipped with an alarmed case connected to the 118 Central Unit. It is positioned outside the Gavazzi Tessuti Tecnici production plant in Calolziocorte, at Via Gavazzi 3, in a public place that is easily accessible in case of emergency.

The inauguration was attended by Nicolò Torrani, President and CEO of Gavazzi, Dario Buzzi, Vice President and Commercial Director, Paolo Brusadelli, Technical & Operations Manager, and Alessandro Peretto, Facility Manager. Also present were the Mayor of Calolziocorte, Marco Ghezzi, Councillors Aldo and Cristina Valsecchi, Dr. Guido Villa (former head of AAT 118 Lecco representing A.R.E.U.), and Cristiano Pelà, President of the association C.C.R.S. O.d.v. (Centro di Coordinamento Radio Soccorso) of Lecco.

The new AED station is part of the "Lecco nel cuore" project by Centro Coordinamento Radio Soccorso - C.C.R.S. O.d.v. of Lecco, with the sponsorship of A.R.E.U. The project has been promoting Cardio-Protection Projects in the area, including the Cardio-protected Lakes Cycleway, and providing BLS-D and First Aid training courses since 2015.

Gavazzi, as a supporter of the C.C.R.S. O.d.v. project, also received the patronage of the City of Calolziocorte, contributing to a total of 8 public stations (P.A.D.) in Lecco and the Province. This initiative aims to enhance the chances of survival in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.

The defibrillator is a vital medical device that uses an electrical discharge to restore the heart's rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest. Due to its portability and user-friendliness, the AED plays a crucial role in saving lives.

Nicolò Torrani expressed his satisfaction with the company's contribution to the well-being of Calolziocorte: "As a historic company in the area, we are deeply committed to the local community. We are pleased to be able to support the well-being of Calolzio by donating a defibrillator."

Gavazzi has previously assisted the Volontari Soccorso Calolziocorte Volunteers, and this donation of the AED demonstrates the company's ongoing dedication to the well-being of the Val San Martino community. It is a tangible gesture that can potentially save lives during emergencies.
