Prepreg
Prepreg or pre impregnated fabrics are fabrics made from various types of technical fibers (glass, aramid, natural fibers, ...) from different armatures, which have been impregnated with thermoplastic matrix (polyester, polyamide, PP, PE, TPU, PA, PPS,PEEK, ...).
These fabrics, once assembled in layers, create high-performance thermoplastic laminates, through a process of compression and thermoforming.

Prepreg fabrics made of glass and polypropylene (PP)
Our company is expanding its production capacity in the composites sector with the development of a new generation of thermoplastic fabrics and tapes, more specifically glass and polypropylene (PP) prepreg fabrics.
A glass and polypropylene (PP) “prepreg” fabric is made by combining textured glass yarn with multi-filament polypropylene. The flexibility of our textile technology allows us to customize glass and polypropylene (PP) "prepreg" fabrics starting from weaving pattern, weight and width based on the intended use and the required characteristics.
The consolidation of the layers is carried out through a compression molding process, heating the prepreg to a temperature of 200-220°C, higher than the melting point of the polypropylene (PP) matrix and applying pressure during the cooling phase (approximately 10 bars).
Further variants made of textured glass fibre and PA66 multifilaments are also available.
Customised innovation: prepreg fabrics based on reinforcement yarns covered with thermoplastic matrix
Product Features and Benefits
- Prepreg ready for use: the thermoplastic resin is already inside the fabric
- Efficient processing conditions
- No VOC emissions
- Low density
- Processing: reduces production cycle times and costs
- Good compatibility with epoxy resins even with TP binder
- Longer shelf life compared to thermosetting prepregs
- Uniform application of the binder which reduces the downtime of the consolidation process
- Easy storage: no cold storage required
- Does not require paper or film interleaving, reducing waste
- Highly conformable fabric that can be easily oriented in the presence of high curvatures
Market opportunities
These products are particularly suitable for various markets:
